Privacy Policy

Please note: This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified attorney and fill in the bracketed details before publishing.
This Privacy Policy explains how Center for Child Development (“CCD,” “we,” “us”) handles information in connection with the CCD Parent Portal (the “Service”). We’ve designed the Service to collect as little as possible.
The short version
- We store only what’s needed to run your account: your name, email, and membership status.
- Everything personal you create in the portal — mood, behavior, and practice tracking, journal entries, your safety plan, child profiles, and saved resources — is stored only on your own device. We never receive it, so we could not read it even if we wanted to.
- We do not store your payment card details — payments are handled by Stripe.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address, and we maintain your subscription status.
Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive only limited information such as a customer identifier and whether your subscription is active — never your full card number.
On-device data (not collected by us). The personal content you create in the portal — mood check-ins, behavior and practice logs, journal entries, your safety plan, the child profiles you add (first name and age), resources you save, your language preference, and your optional journal PIN — is saved locally in your browser on your own device. None of it is transmitted to CCD, and none of it is accessible to us. The optional journal PIN is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form and never leaves your device. Because this data lives only on your device, it may be lost if you clear your browser data, your browser removes stored data, or you switch devices — the portal offers an “Export my data” backup for exactly this reason.
Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider may process basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the Service. To block automated abuse, our sign-in and sign-up pages use Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot-protection service that processes limited technical signals under Cloudflare’s own privacy policy.
How we use information
- To provide and maintain your account and membership;
- To process payments and manage subscriptions (via Stripe);
- To respond to your requests and provide support;
- To secure, operate, and improve the Service; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Service (for example, Stripe for payments, and our hosting and authentication providers), under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
- Legal authorities, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
We do not sell your personal information.
Not for protected health information
The Service is an educational and wellness tool. It is not intended to collect or store protected health information (PHI), and CCD does not act as a HIPAA-covered entity through the Service. Please do not enter clinical or sensitive health details in fields intended for general use. To communicate sensitive information with your child’s provider, use the secure channel your provider has given you.
Children's privacy
The Service is intended for use by adults (parents and guardians) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. Any information about a child is provided by, and remains under the control of, the parent or guardian using their own device.
Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as needed to comply with our legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see “Your choices”).
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect account information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
For on-device data, your device’s own protections (such as its passcode) are the primary safeguard. The portal also offers an optional journal PIN — a device-only lock that helps keep journal entries private from others who may use your device. The PIN cannot be recovered if forgotten; it can only be removed by erasing your on-device data.
Your choices
- You can update your account details or cancel your membership at any time.
- You can request access to, or deletion of, your account information by contacting us.
- You can download a copy of your on-device data anytime with “Export my data” (in the account menu and on your Profile page), and permanently delete it with “Erase my data” — no need to contact us, because we never had it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date.
